Expiring in 23days 18hr7min10secSterile Discs or Antibiotic Sensitivity Discs are accurately cut, pre-sterilized filter paper discs. They are mainly used to determine antibiotic sensitivity by the Kirby-Bauer Method. They are prepared from a purified cellulose paper with uniform thickness. These discs uniformly release and absorb antimicrobial agents and produce a zone of inhibition on the surface of agar. The uniform capillary action from every disc provides uniform diffusion of test materials, which results in accurate and reproducible results.
They are commonly used in various industries, including clinical diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, and research for purposes like antibiotic selection, drug quality control, new development, diffusion assays, bioassays, and more. These discs are available for a wide range of microorganisms, including both bacterial and fungal species.
Antibiotic Sensitivity Discs are most commonly used with Mueller Hinton Agar but they can be used with any medium depending on the target microorganism and assay requirement. They are packed in sterile conditions and available as vials, cartridges, and blister sets. They are ready-to-use and can be used in both manual and automated antimicrobial test systems.
Antibiotic Sensitivity Discs are an important tool in drug discovery and resistance testing microbiological assays.
